Message from Rachel

October 11, 2008 by Rachel Hylton Team

On the day that views of Rachel Hylton videos surpassed 1.5m on you tube - yes, 1.5 million - Rachel has filmed a video message ahead of tonight’s first live final.

See the Video Diary Message from Rachel in full.

Rachel talks about ‘pushing boundaries’ and ‘being out of her comfort zone’. She also admits to having had some communication issues with Danni but having had a chat and discussed them, things are much better.

She also said that she found the judges houses ‘daunting’ and found herself being quite serious as she was ‘in the zone’.

She’s clearly enjoying working with Dannii and is expecting the first live performance to be a challenging one. The song she’s singing is not one that she’d naturally have chosen and asks her supporters to enjoy the show and not just judge her on her vocals.

I’m sure whatever Rachel sings, it will be fantastic!

Hi Rachel, as a song choice consider Giving you the best that i’ve got by Anita Baker. It’s a fantastic song and you’ll do it justice. Good luck!

  8. Reba on October 20th, 2008 12:37 pm

Rachel, its lovely to see you standing as a woman and in your power. Keep your feet on the ground and let people help you. Get good counselling support, the music world is a nasty place and your life matters more than any of that. It takes maturity and wisdom for pop diva’s to survive. Good Luck Darling I am sure that you can win this.

  9. bolton 4 eva on October 24th, 2008 6:58 pm

    ReSpect !! in every Aspect

  10. sarah on October 25th, 2008 8:12 pm

    you should show negative comments.
rachel has too much attitude that over shadows any singing talent she may have!
    definitely not too win….

  11. Kris on October 26th, 2008 10:13 am

After the first bar of your first performance on the first show I knew you were going to win. You will be a star whatever happens on XF but please Rach keep your feet on the ground. There is a lot of scum and parasites in the music business. Give no-one respect unless they earn it. Stay true to you and you will not just be a star but an inspiration to many many others - that’s the real X-Factor.

    Hi Rachel,
I hope you read this. Your performance on Saturday was absolutely fantastic. I am really proud of you. Keep on choosing songs to show your voice off to its full potential. I can see you singing a James Bond theme song in the future. Please keep your cool if anything irrates you and show everyone you are a lady.
Keep strong, stay focused and show your gift from God.

    Good Luck

  13. Netsai on October 29th, 2008 8:02 pm

Hey Rachel. I loved u from day 1. Listen to Simon and Cheryl. You’re a soul singer. That’s your distinguishing mark, your strenghth in the show. We’r all waiting to hear more from you. Your performance was excellent on Saturday and I’ve been replaying it throughout this week. I had been waiting for so long to hear that performance. Thanks for giving us that splendid performance. You are th X-factor, as long as u keep up the soul…God bless.

  14. Siobhan on October 29th, 2008 11:28 pm

From seeing Rachel’s first audition on the X Factor I was absolutely blown away. That’s essentially what causes one to have shivers run down their spine- when someone’s soul reaches out and touches another. Rachel doesn’t sing from her heart, she sings from an even deeper part of herself- her soul !!! Rachel has perfected the unique ability to channel the true essence of who she is through her voice. It is this very thing that has touch my heart and the millions of others who wish the best for her.

We all have a past and have done things are not proud of. I so happy to see that Rachel has moved on from her past and is not letting it define her. Rachel is a good person with a beautiful soul and a gifted voice. Everyone deserves a second chance and I hope and pray that she gets it through being a contestant on The X Factor. Unfortunately the voting phone lines are not open to the Republic of Ireland- I have never in my life voted for anything on telly. However, I feel so passionate about wanting Rachel to win, if I could I would vote for her over and over again every week. I have been emailing links of videos of her on you tube to friends and family across the world-that’s how strong I believe in her and am willing her to win!!!
    GO RACHEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Stacey on October 30th, 2008 10:56 am

Best of luck in the show Rachel!
You have an indescribable amount of passion and I sincerely do wish you all the best, and find it so respectable that you are doing it for your children!

    Keep your head high :)

  17. Alexandra K on November 1st, 2008 10:59 pm

I think you have an amazing voice, absoultely…. no doubt about that at all. However….. you have had, as we all now know, a turbulent life, yet……. you are still so cocky!

You should be ‘humbled’ that you have and are being given this opportunity to begin a ‘new life’. There’s being tough but recognising the gift within a gift……..

Enjoy and relish your opportunity! Get rid of the hard and ‘cocky’ you!

  18. Clare on November 2nd, 2008 12:08 am

Rachel I am so glad you were saved tonigt. You are absolutely amazing as a singer and a person and you deserve this more than anyone in the competition.I know it must seem so hard at the moment after been in the bottom 2 but I know you will come back and be amazing next week.Try and keep your chin up as you seemed quite low on xtra factor earlier in the results show. All this hard work will be worth it and you have already gained a lot of fans out there so whatever happens you will get a career from this.Youir children must be so proud seeing what their mum is doing and they are very lucky. All the best Rachel and good luck.xxx

  19. Stacey on November 2nd, 2008 12:40 pm

Definitely deserves to still be there after last nights performance!

Your children must be so incredibly proud after seeing their amazing mother perform :)

Who in the right mind would vote for the likes of Daniel over Rachel?!?! The British public is mad.

  20. liz on November 2nd, 2008 1:04 pm

Rachel, chin up and show us why we have been voting for you, not only have you got a great voice but you have the x factor too. You are an inspiration to those who have lost faith and your story will now direct them. Come on Rachel, you rock!!! Put a smile on our face with your talent. RACHEL TO WIN xxxxx

  21. Anon e mouse on November 2nd, 2008 3:40 pm

Rachel, you’re too talented and original for the x factor.
One of life’s true maverick’s, you are much, much bigger - and better - than this.

  22. Old Lady on November 3rd, 2008 7:35 am

As an officially old person (over 65) I grew up with swing music and the whole big band sound, and I remember Ella Fitzgerald and the rest of those really incredible singers. Rachel, when you sang Feeling Good, I was totally amazed, you are right up there with them. Whatever the final results of X Factor, we are going to hear a lot of you over the coming years. The big band thing really suited you, the clothes and hair as well as your wonderful voice. I will definitely be buying your first CD. Good luck xxxxx

  23. Michelle on November 4th, 2008 1:20 am

Rachel good luck for this week. You’ve proved ambition, talent, and to be a natural performer on stage. I would love to hear and see more of your talent ,so i’m rooting you all the way from South Korea. Good luck and you can do this!

  24. Deb Harvey on November 6th, 2008 9:00 pm

  26. ann kavanagh on November 8th, 2008 10:46 pm

    Hi Rachel
Well done tonight , You were just BRILLIANT !! You should be allowed to pick your songs and decide what clothes you wear for the remainder of the competition.

I hope Danni will allow you to do this.

You have the X - Factor and You will WIN !!
    BEST OF LUCK

  27. mac on November 9th, 2008 1:11 am

Rachel sweetheart, although it broke my heart to see you looking so sad I feel that you’ve reached some sort of watershed, you’ve grown and the real Rachel has broken through the hard shell.

As a Mum who has lost a child through drugs I am so, so happy for you and humbled by your strength because I’ve seen first hand how hard the struggle can be.
Hold your head up high Rachel and continue to put your massive heart and soul into this, whatever happens in this show you have a great god given talent and the strength to do whatever you want to. God Bless you and Keep you sweets.

  28. Debbie on November 9th, 2008 9:28 am

    Well done Rachel-

You don’t have to be nervous- you are the best one there.

  29. Rick on November 9th, 2008 11:10 am

Rachael whats happening girl? Its the first week I didn’t vote for you. You’ve seem to have lost your natural sparkle. You’re gonna have to fight to keep your place on Xfactor - I know you can do it. The only way you can win Xfactor is to be yourself. Too many people on the show are starting to make you look like a caged bird. You need to start to be yourself and if that means being a maverick then so be it. You need to become a free spirit again you need to start being RACHAEL HYLTON - I think you know what I mean.
    Love Rick

  30. Andriene on November 9th, 2008 1:40 pm

Rachel, do u read this website. If so holler at me at [email address available].

  31. Angela on November 9th, 2008 2:07 pm

I never used to watch X factor, and the first time I saw Rachel audition I thought she was not going through, well I have been surprised and every week I am hooked. I just want to say to you Rachel many people do support you and for me personally seeing you do what you do inspires me.

  32. Annie on November 10th, 2008 2:47 am

Rachel I have voted you for five shows and I will continue to vote for you for as long as you remain in the competition. Good Luck Sweetheart never let the press get you down and keep going no matter what. I will be the first at HMV to buy your CD and YES you will have that career and yes you will be a recording artist. I hope you and your family are well. It is hard for you as all of the others have support from each other in the house and you have to go home alone. I am rooting for you.

  33. Rachel Hater on November 10th, 2008 3:24 pm

Rachel is a waster and user. Stop using your kids to pull at the publics heartstrings, and admit you’re doing this because you can’t get a job to support them. You have consistently been a weak performer, and now you’re blaming everyone else for your lack of talent. Saturdays result was a travesty, you should have been outta here, and good ridence too. Slink back to where you belong and get a proper life, oh talent;ess one.

  34. Paul Meikle on November 10th, 2008 6:07 pm

Rachel if i were u, i would have volanterd to leave on saturdar and left the best ones in because you were sigin out off tune and it was terrible, plus laura and ruth are both amazing. plus it is NOT a sympathy show it’s a talent show so quit with the sympathy. =[

The best thing you can do is give up now. You can’t sing, you have no personality and you won’t take criticism or advice. You have no future in the music business.

  37. stacey on November 12th, 2008 10:23 pm

rachel you desvere two win factor youve been through so much words cant describle i wish u all the best and want you two win Imm Ya Number one fan Rachel <3 Lovee You x x x

  38. No1Lucian Girl on November 13th, 2008 2:55 pm

How can people tell Rachel to leave??? Hello? Isn’t it the public who vote for acts? As much as I liked the bottom 2 (1), it wasn’t Rachel that put them there but the viewing public! EVERYBODY in X-Factor has a sob-story, Eoghan, because he’s young, Alex, because she’s trying again, Ricki Gervais, because his wife died, Laura, because she’s so shy, Diana, ‘cos she’s so vulnerable etc.. Everyone has a story to tell, and so what if she is doing this for a bette life for her and her children - wot’s wrong with that! The world is a complete mess and you have “so-called” intelligent people criticising others because they want a better life for themselves - dah!!!!

  39. Italia on November 16th, 2008 12:25 pm

I love you Rachael!!!! I really hope that you will succede! I really hope that you will better your life for yourself and for your children! Look up, life has loads to offer you! Love you!!!!

  40. Eva on November 17th, 2008 10:51 am

hey rachel i know what you have been through being a mum of 5 children your age is not easy at all, people may say that you don’t deserve to be here that there are more talented constestants who have gone they may say what they want but you have the right to get a chance so as to make a better living for your kids, so just don’ty let negative reaction get into you, just ignore them.i would like you to be the winner because it will be for a good cause, you have an incredible voice, very jazzy and sensual but i think that you just have to believe more in your capacity as a singer that your can give better outcome of you. Don’t despair and keep on singing, you sing Amy’s song well.

  41. sam on November 20th, 2008 5:55 pm

hey girl do not let news reports get you down, each week i watch you and it makes my saturday evening,………… even my little girl likes you ,so you go out there and sing your heat out for you and your kids………….nuff luv and respect.

  42. nicky on November 22nd, 2008 11:44 pm

Rachel, your sing-off song was amazing. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Rachel I loved your songs tonight and I’m not Leaving was extraordinary. I will be buying any CD you bring out.

  45. elizabeth on November 24th, 2008 11:46 pm

hi rachael you have a great sol voice you were my favourite at auditions i hope you have a good future i dont think its the press about your past that changed public views hey thats gone and your trying to build a new future we admire your honesty ithink the public [a lot ]anyhow stopped warming to you when you had such a lot to say back most of the time try and chill a bit i wish you well

  46. Annette on November 26th, 2008 8:49 pm

From your first audition I thought you had a great voice. I have always watched X Factor but never wanted anyone to win so much as I wanted you to. Not only for your great talent but also how you have picked yourself up from what must have been ‘rock bottom’. The Media was never going to let you win the show. You are proof to many other people what can be done if you want to. This is what the press should have focused on and used you as an example to others. Anyway I hope you get the break you truely deserve. Looking forward to your first single. Keep up the good work. You are a star.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  47. Ann-Marie on November 29th, 2008 11:41 am

Rachael, Keep singing dont look backwards.. just forwards. You have a God given talent… and dont let anyone undermine you now. Your nearly there girl!!

  48. Eva on December 14th, 2008 2:43 pm

    hey Rachel,

i was so gald to see you on X factor yesterday night, to see that you always smile and still be survivor that’s great, hope your children are doing fine, what do you think about the final of yesterday, i think personally that both alex and JLS deserve to win, hope that we will be able to hear your beautiful and talented voice.

kEEP SMILING TO LIFE AND LIFE WILL ALWAYS SMILE TO YOU

  49. Fresie on December 21st, 2008 10:22 pm

Rachel, I just want to ask you please keep going, please persevere in your performing career. You can make a huge difference to this planet’s musical culture, just keep on going. I’m a performing artist myself, so I’m not saying it lightly. You’re in the top league, and even these few performances of yours will be remembered long after the X-Factor itself is forgotten.

It’s a learning curve. Good luck to you!
